Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee not only reflects the kitten's quality type, but also reflects the quality of care we provide in our cattery. As an adopter, you get to walk right into the heart of our cattery at pick-up time! We want you to see with your own eyes what type of care we are providing. As years go by, breeding becomes more and more expensive due to inflation. We're getting better at what we do with each year that passes, learning more ways to provide even better care for our cats and kittens. With better care, becomes MUCH higher overhead costs. Food alone costs us close to $1000 a month simply because we choose to feed everyone one of the best brands (Orijen)! Next you get the Genetic testing, PCR testing, vet expenses, and other consumables like cat trees, toys, grooming tools, litter and litter robots - as I'm sure you can imagine, these are constantly being replaced with the heavy usage they get. I'm sure you get the idea! Breeding is not cheap, we don't take shortcuts, and we certainly are not ripping anyone off! I believe breeders who do it right should be charging far more than they already are for the amount of labor and hard work that goes into it - something adopters don't see. You should question a 'good deal' because I can guarantee that the kitten is not being cared for properly with the amount of cost that goes into proper care.

Pet Quality
A Pet Quality kitten means this kitten would either be penalized, withheld from all awards, or disqualified at TICA shows

A kitten is disqualified from shows if they have: Crossed eyes. Visible or severe tail faults. Severe cow hocks.
River Haze has never had kittens in this category, and would hope to never see it. If we ever do, pricing would be determined at the time at a discounted price.

A kitten is withheld from all awards if they have: General: Any eye color other than blue. Doming. Pointed: Any white. Mitted: Lack of white chin. Bicolor: Any dark markings inside the white “V” including the chin.

A Show Quality kitten means this kitten would be under the allowances with slight imperfections, or perfectly marked.

A kitten is allowed if they have: General: Seasonal changes in coat length, shorter coats on unaltered adults and kittens. Females may be smaller than males. Mitted and Bicolor Patterns only: Feet and Legs: Small spots of point color in designated white areas. Paw Pads: Spots of point color on paw pads or colored paw pads.
