Hello, fellow cat enthusiasts! I’m thrilled you’re here! Whether you’re searching for your future kitten or simply love Ragdolls and want to follow along, getting to know the people behind the cattery is a vital step in building a relationship. At River Haze, we truly cherish our connections with our adopters, and we want you to know us because trust is key! That’s why I decided to share a bit about who we are and what makes River Haze special.

Let’s Get Acquainted!

I’ll start! My name is Kaitlin, and I’m a 26-year-old stay-at-home mom to two wonderful girls, ages 2 and 4. I’m the proud breeder behind River Haze Ragdolls.

My Journey with Ragdolls

I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, and I’ve been breeding Ragdolls for over ten years. My journey began in 2013 when I was just 15 years old. Cats have always been a part of my life—our yard was a gathering spot for neighborhood cats long before I started breeding.

One unforgettable experience was with a neighbor’s unfixed female cat. She had a litter of kittens and chose our home to have them! I still remember the day clearly—I was in fourth grade and desperately wanted to stay home from school just to watch them. That was my first taste of kitten love!

Fast forward a few years, and I was searching classified ads for kittens when I stumbled upon a sweet Ragdoll and Siamese pair for sale. After convincing my mom to give it a try, we got a male Siamese and started breeding. We soon realized Ragdolls were our true passion, so we rehomed the Siamese and found a gorgeous blue lynx bicolor male to focus on Ragdolls exclusively.

Eventually, I moved to New Jersey after marrying my husband, Steve. We decided to relaunch the cattery together, emphasizing ethical practices. We chose the name River Haze—after our first male, River, and our daughter’s name, Hazel.

Our journey hasn’t been without challenges. Tragically, River passed away shortly after arriving, but through that loss, I gained a wonderful friend in another breeder who helped me find Teddy, our replacement male. That experience taught me the value of community and support in this journey.

My Role in the Cattery

As the primary caregiver, I handle all the day-to-day tasks in the cattery—from cleaning and feeding to bathing our beautiful cats. Yes, it can get messy, especially with kittens! But seeing them thrive makes it all worth it. I also manage vet appointments, which can feel like a full-time job on its own, with constant check-ups for the little ones.

Beyond the “gritty” work, I also take care of our website, the photography, handle inquiries, and keep everything running smoothly. It’s a labor of love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Meet Steve!

My husband, Steve, is 29 and works in the medical industry, specializing in equipment servicing. His love for animals truly helps our cattery flourish. Plus, his financial expertise is a game-changer—I never have to stress about budgeting because he meticulously manages our cattery finances. It’s such a relief to know he has that part covered!

Our Little Helpers

Our daughters, Hazel (4) and Olive (2), have one important job: socializing the kittens! They adore animals and love playing with our furry friends. This interaction not only helps the kittens grow into loving companions but also fosters empathy and kindness in our children. We’ve received fantastic feedback about our kittens’ loving nature, and it’s all thanks to this special environment we create.
